In case you’re wondering or if some of our pictures look rather familiar to you, you’re not seeing things. This is the old Photos Of Puerto Rico (dot.com). For a couple of years, I’ve been toying with the idea of relaunching the website as a LEGACY site for old times’ sake. The only problem is that once I moved to the States, I didn’t follow through with the domain renewal and it has a new owner. So, instead of paying a premium for what once was mine, I decided to spice the site with a new domain. After all, isn’t Puerto Rico INCREDIBLE?
Much has happened since the last update. According to my records, the last update to POPR was in May 2007. The site was once a stop for many people, from all places mostly homesick Puerto Ricans living outside the island, and even some local political luminaries took a few minutes to praise the site and its pictures of our beautiful Puerto Rico.
Due to the technology from back in the day, i.e. screen resolution and internet speed, all photos are being pulled from virtual storage and optimized. What was once the size of a full picture, today is almost the size of its thumbnail. There was no such thing as Mobile optimization, so publishing the website in its original HTML configuration from yesteryear would make a big mess in a phone or tablet browser.
